Hope has not been a constant throughout my adult life. Before I was born, my parents didn’t expect to have any children. Two years after my birth, they embarked on a different life: they were no longer parents but caretakers. They struggled to get used to the new state of affairs and their efforts paid off eventually.

There was no guidance, but the overall feeling was definitely positive. My father started making full use of his new life. He started to achieve things that no one could imagine before. As I write this article, he is working on the first airliner designed by a non-American to move cargo.
He is working hard, writing software, and dreaming of achieving big things. He has achieved big goals and big dreams, but this is not the whole story. I am not just making this up or trying to make a bigger statement than is necessary. On the other hand, he is also struggling, struggling to get to the next stage.
As I said, his story is probably an important part of your life and mine. What you achieve, achieve. Life is not about achieving big, difficult goals. Life is about achieving small, achievable goals and then creating a life with all the good things that come with that.
Don’t reach a big, scary goal, but build the best life you can with the life you have, in a way that works for you.
We may be no longer alone.
